AREA ATTRACTIONS
Rochester, Vermont
is a quintessential New England village with
its leafy four acre Park surrounded by stately
period homes. It is located in the heart of
Central Vermont, within minutes of Interstate
89. Despite a population under 1,200, the town
offers just about everything a visitor could
want. Numerous shops, services and small businesses
make Rochester
not only a charming, but a vibrant little town.
Our border to the west is the vast Green Mountain
National Forest, protected forever from development.
The GMNF and the White River which flows through
the village offer recreational opportunities
for hikers, bikers, skiers, fishers and "leaf
peepers." Rochester is mid-way between
Killington and Sugarbush four season resorts,
which offer tennis facilities, swimming and
health club facilities.
The mountains provide
wonderful walking adventures, biking, cross-country
skiing, snow shoeing and snowmobiling. Being
centrally located in the State, Rochester is
within 30 minutes of many of the major ski areas.
The Green Mountain National Forest owns over
12,000 acres within the Township.
Many
brooks and streams flow into the White River
whose headwaters rise a few miles north of town.
The White River flows alongside the village
and through fertile farmland in the valley,
winding its way to the Connecticut River and
providing pastoral views as it parallels Route
100. Fly fishing abounds within a 15 minute
drive.
